Following last weekend’s postponed fixture against Cowdenbeath, on Saturday we return to league action with a tough trip to current Ladbrokes League One leaders Ayr United.
The sides have met once in the league already this season, Rovers recording a comfortable 3-0 victory over ‘The Honest Men’ on the opening day of the season, but Darren Young, who was awarded Manager of the Month during the week, believes Saturday’s tie will likely be a much tougher test than when the two sides last met earlier in the season.
“This game will be completely different to the home game. They’ve not been defeated since then so it tells you all you need to know in regards to what we’re going to be up against.”
The coaching staff will have a near enough full-strength squad to pick from, but striker John Gemmell will have to miss out, serving the first game of his two game suspension.
The Rovers are currently sitting joint third along with Airdrieonians, however, with one game in hand it’s vital that we continue to pick up points and pile the pressure on Gary Bollan’s side.
We can’t however look any further than Saturday’s game, one that Young suggests will be one of the toughest tests his side have faced this season.
“They are there on merit and deserve to be top. Ian McCall has a lot of experience and success throughout the years so it’s no surprise they are sitting where they are.”
