Following Tuesday’s 2-0 victory at home to Hamilton Accies Under 20’s in the Irn Bru Cup, we caught up with player/manager Darren Young.
“Well first of all, it’s always great to get through to the next round of the Cup and it’s also our first victory in 90 mins this season..
“At times however I wasn’t very impressed with the performance, the 1st half we were very poor and I wasn’t happy despite going in at the break 1-0 up.
“We did improve in the second-half and could have had a few more goals. It was great for young Ryan McManus and Daniel Lightbody to come in for their debuts. I felt they both done really well.”
“There has been quite a bit of grumbling from folk unhappy with the format of the cup, but the changes have been made to try and make the competition more exciting. Once it’s over the promoters can look back and compare it to see if it made a difference to the attendances and if the changes were worthwhile.”
Overall though, we’re just delighted to finally get that first win under our belt and hopefully it can kick us on for the season ahead.”
