Following Rovers excellent three points on Saturday away to Stenhousemuir, we caught up with player/manager Darren Young to see what he made of the win.
“It was a great win for us and massive in terms of staying ahead of the chasing pack.”
” We were disappointed that last weekends game was called off so it was really good to continue our form from where we left off.”
The games only goal came with just over twenty minutes to go, midfielder Gary Fisher firing a daisy-cutting strike into the bottom corner of the net. With Fisher scoring his first goal of the season, after the game, Young really expressed Fisher’s importance to the side.
“For the past five or six games now Gary has been absolutely outstanding for us, he’s a massive reason for our form just now and he’s also keeping me out of the team!”
Young added: “It was great to see him get his goal and that’s probably the area of his game he needs to improve on.”
The victory now puts Rovers four points clear of Peterhead and now seven points behind Ayr United after their defeat to ten men Dunfermline, however, Young believes that the side shouldn’t look too far ahead and just focus on each game as it comes.
“We never look too far ahead. We now have 14 points from the second quarter – one point better off than the first – and we still have two home games and ultimately six points to play for. ”
He concluded: “We just need to keep taking each game at a time and look to pick up as many points as possible.”
