We caught up with striker Calum Ferguson following his two goal display on Saturday at home to Falkirk.
“I don’t think I’ve ever had a six minutes like that (scoring two goals), it was quite something. When I was at Inverness I used to come on a lot and be used as an impact sub and always fancies myself to get involved but I couldn’t have asked for a better start to my career for Albion Rovers – scoring two today and setting up the goal against Motherwell.”
“When I was at Inverness and signed my first first team contract the management team said they’d like to bring me on as an impact sub and nab them a goal, unfortunately I picked up a back injury and missed a lot of the season, so that’s why I’m here now at Rovers, to get game time, help the boys finish to get as high a league position as we can.”
“I’m still legible for the Canada Under 23’s so if I can keep playing every week, scoring goals like I have today then hopefully I can get back involved in the international set-up.”
“A lot like Luca Gasparatto who started for Falkirk today, a good friend of mine, he went out on-loan to Airdrie then to Morton, so he showed that if you start every week at this level, perform well then you have every chance of getting called up.”
“Overall though it’s certainly not been a bad start to the season for me, I should probably save some for the actual season, but no it’s a great start, it really helps with the confidence having been out for so long, to get going again and scoring is exactly what I’ve been wanting.”
