Matchday 1 | Edinburgh City (A) Preview

Edinburgh City vs Albion Rovers

Ladbrokes League 2
Ainslie Park, Edinburgh
Saturday 4th August, 3pm

OPPOSITION IN VIEW
Edinburgh City will come into tomorrow’s game buoyed by winning their final Betfred Cup match 4-2 against League 1 opponents in Stranraer. They bolster an impressive roster with the likes of Conrad Balatoni and Danny Handling contracted to the club, last season they finished 9th.

LAST TIME OUT
The ‘Rovers last outing ended in a 5-0 defeat to Greenock Morton…
The first ten minutes of the match looked promising for the visitors, however, the home side scored two quick-fire goals before the half-time mark and capitalised on a lack of concentration from the back-line.
After the break and a system change for the ‘Rovers, the game was still in the favour of the Championship side. Three more goals ensured a comprehensive victory for Morton.

John Brogan was quick to praise the ‘Ton saying:
“They were the best team I thought we had come up against so far, they were excellent”.

Also, he stressed that the team will be judged on the results in the League, and that the Betfred Cup was a “learning curve” for his new team.
“The league is the priority, it is what we are gearing up for. We will be judged on form in the League”.

Going into tomorrow without a competitive goal scored, John admitted it was something being worked on.
“It is something, of course, we are aware of, we have been working hard in training to make sure we get it right”.
