Matchday 6 | Clyde (A) Preview

Clyde vs Albion Rovers

Ladbrokes League 2

Broadwood, Cumbernauld

Saturday 15th September, 3pm

FROM THE CAMP
First-team coach Scott Gemmell spoke to Ben Kearney on Thursday, during the squads last training session before returning to SPFL League 2 action against Clyde this weekend.

Scott, tough opponents on Saturday?
“It will be a very hard game, they have some experienced players who know the game really well and they have a great manager. However, we have to believe we can go there and win the game.”

David Goodwillie has proved he could still play at a higher level, how will we combat him?
“David is a very good footballer, the lads at the back will relish coming up against him and they will are very aware of his striking prowess.”

Is there any injury doubts?
“There are a few niggles, but this is just because we have worked with the players so hard over the break period, we should have a full squad going into the game.”

Could we see new signing PJ Morrison starting?
“He has trained with us this week, so he is in contention to start the game. We have some great young keepers and Daniel Potts has done very well so far.”

Have we discovered our starting XI over the break?
“The nucleus of the team is very much starting to break through, we have had injuries to key players and they are all now back. Lewis (Wilson) and Gary (Fisher) were out and have really added to the group now they are back. You can expect to see a more settled XI.”

THE AWAY DUGOUT
Clyde currently sit in 4rth place in the table, after the first five games. They have won three games and lost two, having not drawn so far.

Last time out they faced Annan Athletic away from home and they were victorious with goals either side of a Tony Wallace goal. David Goodwillie scoring after 10 minutes, and Ally Love sealing the victory after half-time.

Last season they avoided the relegation play-off by three points as they finished 9th in the table.

Recent memories spring to mind, with the club winning the League 2 title at Broadwood in 2015.

Two goals down, the ‘Rovers fought back to win the game on a truly amazing afternoon, a young Chris Cadden scoring to half the deficit. The ‘Beast’ John Gemmell then heading home to level and Gary Fisher looping the ball over the keeper to ensure pandamonium.
