Albion Rovers were this afternoon brushed aside by an impressive Peterhead, the home side bagging all three points despite Rovers taking an early lead.
It was the perfect start for Darren Young’s side, referee Colin Rovers with a penalty inside the first 30 seconds, after Scott McBride was fouled by Scott Ross. The aforementioned McBride stepped up for the penalty, confidently converting his spot-kick into the bottom corner.
Rovers lead lead lasted only eight minutes however, midfielder Jamie Redman guiding his header into the back of the net from close-range.
Seven minutes after the interval the home sides pressure eventually proved too much and they took the lead, clinical striker Rory McAllister rifling a right-footed strike into the back of Ross Stewart’s net.
Only two minutes after McAllister’s first of the afternoon, he added a second, this time converting from the penalty spot, when Ross Dunlop was penalised for handling the ball inside the box.
Just after the hour mark, it was Shane Sutherland’s turn to get in on the act. Steven Noble slipped through the physical striker inside the box, before firing firing a shot into the roof of the net.
Four minutes later, Peterhead put further salt into the Rovers wounds, bagging his second and Peterhead’s fifth goal of the afternoon from inside the box.
