Albion Rovers Under 19’s were this afternoon defeated in the Scottish Cup Final at Airdrieonians’ Excelsior Stadium.
It was Antonine who opened the scoring early in the first half, Andy Gavin drilling his effort into the back of the net.
Shortly after, Antonine were at it again, Daryl McMillan converting, doubling the East Dunbartonshire sides lead.
Rovers’ Anthony O’Kane did however bring the Wee Rovers back into the game just before half-time.
Not long after the interval, Antonine restored their two goal lead, the dangerous Gavin whipping a strike into the back of the net.
Only six minutes later, Antonine scored a fourth of the afternoon, wide midfielder Daryl McMillan scoring again, his second of the game, and a goal that surely sealed the cup for the team in white.
With around twenty minutes remaining, a Connor Shields goal for Rovers could have perhaps made the remaining minutes interesting, however, to their credit, Antonine held out for a deserved victory – winning the cup an amazing third year in a row.
Full-time: Rovers 2 – 4 Antonine
