It’s a trip south to Dumfries and Galloway for the Rovers this Saturday as they face Stranraer, the club currently sitting just one point behind Darren Young’s side in the Ladbrokes Scottish League 1 table.
Despite a disappointing defeat in last week’s Lanarkshire derby, it’s been a fairly solid start to the season for Rovers, a closely fought draw at Peterhead and two home victories against Ayr United and Brechin City seeing Young’s side collect seven points, whilst occupying seventh place in the league.
Player-manager, Darren Young will have a near enough full strength squad to pick from, goalkeeper Blair Lochhead the only player unavailable for Saturday’s clash.
When taking into consideration Stranraer’s second place finish last season, it would be fair to say that they have had a slow start to the campaign so far, crashing out of both cups and currently sitting eighth in the league. The Blues have however managed to record two victories, a tight 1-0 win against Brechin following an opening day victory at Cowdenbeath.
With a Rovers victory potentially moving them six points above the relegation play-off spot, Saturday’s match looks set to be another exciting League 1 encounter between two sides desperate for victory.
