After making his first appearance for the Rovers in the second-half of Saturday’s friendly at home to Motherwell, we spoke to new signing Ryan Wallace about coming to Cliftonhill.

“I’m happy to be here, I trained for the first time on Thursday night with the boys and I know the majority of the boys who play here anyway so that made for an easy first few days.

“In this squad, I’ve played with Paul Willis before and Scott McBride and been playing for years against Gary Fisher growing up in the various youth systems.”

Wallace, who spent a successful four years at Dunfermline, was announced as a Rovers player on Thursday evening, a move that had excited him ever since he initially was told about the interest.

“The gaffer phoned my agent early doors of pre-season and was asking what was happening with me. So we spoke on the phone and he persuaded me to come, obviously I was waiting to see if I could stay full-time but that offer didn’t come about, so then after speaking to Darren I knew that moving here was definitely the best option for me, allowing me to hopefully kick-on from here.”

We also asked the 25 year old, who developed through the ranks at Heart of Midlothian, what the supporters should expect from the player and the style of football he likes to play.

“I’d say I’m a number 10 kind of striker, I do score goals, I like to link up play and I don’t mind running the channels, hit shots, take set-pieces, basically all the kind of things a forward-thinking player likes to be involved in.

He added: “Overall, I’d say I’m quite an inventive player, I’ll create chances and score goals.”
