Ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Ayrshire, we spoke to former Kilmarnock youth Ross Davidson about his return to Rugby Park.
“I’ve supported Killie since I was a wee boy so I’m really looking forward to playing at Rugby Park again.
“It will feel a bit strange at first going into the away dressing room, but something I’m looking forward to!
“It’ll be good to have my family and friends there and see some old faces again – although there doesn’t seem to be too many there now though.”
“It was really hard to take when I left the club because since a young age all I ever wanted to do was play for Kilmarnock. Having said that though, it’s probably been the best thing for me to get away from there and to play regular football. I’ll be just going out to enjoy myself and try to do the best I can for the team.”
“I’ve really enjoyed the new format of the cup it gives us a test against higher and lower opposition so we know every game will difficult in a different way and that will help us prepare for the season.”
“I feel like my game has come on a lot since arriving. I know myself I can do a lot more for the team on and off the ball, so I’ll be working harder to improve that side of my game.
“I want to add more goals to my game too, with getting one during the week hopefully that’s just the start.
“Because of the Betfred Cup the games have been coming earlier, something that has helped us get fitter and sharper. You can only do so much running, but the games are where you get match fitness from and being able to play four competitive games before the league campaign starts will hopefully see us in good shape going into the season ahead.”
